NN Digital Hub is a subsidiary company of Nationale Nederlanden Group located in Madrid, Spain. We deliver IT services and solutions for the different international Business Units from Nationale Nederlanden Group.

Our objective is to create, deliver and maintain insurance product management solutions, as service propositions to enable any agent (linked or direct), machine or company to create and sell insurance products in Europe in an automated way and real time.

The Data & AI department at NN Group IT is currently seeking a motivated Senior Data Governance Platform Engineer to become part of our Data Management Services team in the Data & AI Services domain. The ideal candidate will have proven experience deploying and scaling Unity Catalog (UC) in large enterprise environments, along with deep expertise in data governance frameworks and tools. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining a secure, well-governed, and high-performance data governance and management environment across the organization.

Responsibilities

Manage and innovate the Databricks Unity Catalog and Collibra Data platforms used across the company within the focus area of Data Governance.
Facilitate the use of these platforms, providing support and maintaining communication with data engineers and other technical stakeholders, enabling them to create innovative data solutions and products with our Data Governance solutions.
Implement data lineage tracking, audit logging, and access monitoring, ensuring transparency and compliance.
Enable self-service data access capabilities in line with business needs and data protection standards.
Partner with cross-functional teams to integrate Unity Catalog with other data governance and management tools (e.g., Collibra, RDM etc.).
Pro-actively enhance the infrastructures availability and stability, which includes monitoring and reliability management tasks and develop and deploy automations through CI/CD pipelines on Azure Cloud.
Carry out Operations & Service Delivery including Change Management, Configuration Management, Life-cycle Management (LCM), and solving complex incidents and problems.
Ensure Platform Security and Compliancy is maintained following the company policy requirements and procedures.

Qualifications

You have a bachelor’s or master’s degree and thinking level.
5+ years of experience in data platform engineering or data governance roles in large-scale enterprise environments.
1+ years of hands-on experience with Databricks Unity Catalog, including configuration, automation, and policy enforcement.
Proficient in Python, SQL and CI/CD tools (e.g., Azure DevOps).
Solid understanding of metadata management, data lineage, and data cataloging concepts.
Strong knowledge of data access patterns, RBAC/ABAC models, and security best practices for cloud data platforms.
Good command of spoken and written English.
Demonstrably developed problem-solving ability.
Collaboration skills and you are a good communicator.
Experience in agile (Scrum) way of working.

Optional Qualifications

Experience using Bash, Azure CLI, PowerShell, REST API and Terraform is an advantage.
Databricks Certified Platform Administrator or Databricks Solution Architect is an advantage.
Knowledge and skills regarding security and compliancy are an advantage.
Knowledge and skills on Collibra and other Data Governance tools are an advantage.
Experience using multicloud (Azure, AWS, GCP) is an advantage.

Who You Will Work With

Our Data Management Services team is made up of dedicated Platform engineers committed to delivering secure, reliable, scalable, and robust data platforms for the extensive network of NN data engineers. We take charge of both engineering the platforms and their maintenance, striving for cost-efficiency and dependability and work together with the other teams in our Data & AI Services department to provide a seamless user experience. Structured in three focus groups, you will be part of the Data Governance group.
