Department: R&D Release Planning & Service Optimization

The role

As a Data Engineer within R&D Operations at Verisure, you will help us understand how millions of connected devices and services perform in the real world, turning technical and operational data into insights that support better products, reliable services, and improved customer experiences.

You will work together with colleagues across engineering, QA, release management and operations to bring information together from different sources. You will help teams understand product behaviour, investigate technical issues, assess software releases, and identify opportunities for improvement.

The role combines hands-on data engineering with technical analysis and collaboration. You will help develop our operational data capabilities and turn findings into recommendations that support better decisions across R&D.

You will join a supportive international R&D team where people share knowledge, listen to different perspectives and learn from each other.

What you will be up to

Collect, structure and combine technical and operational data from multiple sources to develop reliable datasets
Analyse product telemetry, logs and operational metrics to identify trends, anomalies and performance issues
Develop data models, KPIs and analytical solutions that help teams understand product and service performance
Collaborate with Engineering, QA and Operations to investigate field issues, support root-cause analysis and recommend improvements
Support software and firmware releases by analysing performance across versions, devices and deployments
Improve observability, automate recurring analysis and help identify potential issues earlier
Work closely with stakeholders across R&D to understand their needs, share insights and support informed decisions

Good fit if you have

A couple of years of relevant experience in Data Engineering, Data Analytics, Software Engineering, Observability or a similar technical role
Good SQL skills and practical experience with Python or a comparable programming language
Experience combining, analysing and validating technical or operational data from different sources
Experience investigating technical issues, identifying patterns and turning data into actionable insights
Experience developing KPIs, automated reports, dashboards or other analytical solutions
Curiosity about how technical systems work, combined with the ability to communicate findings clearly
A collaborative mindset, willingness to share knowledge across teams and professional proficiency in English

Nice to have / technologies and areas we work with

Azure Data Explorer, Kusto, Azure Monitor or Application Insights
Power BI, Grafana, Kibana or other monitoring and visualisation tools
Operational analytics, data modelling, observability and product telemetry
Software and firmware development, testing, release management or progressive deployments
IoT, connected devices, embedded systems, telecommunications or cloud services

You may enjoy this role if several of these resonate with you:

You are curious about how technology works and enjoy finding meaningful patterns in data
You like investigating technical issues and helping others understand what the findings mean
You appreciate collaboration, knowledge sharing and learning from colleagues with different expertise
You enjoy contributing to something that is still developing and seeing how your work benefits customers

FAQ

Is this primarily a Data Engineering or Data Analytics role?
It combines both, with a focus on technical and operational analysis. You will use datasets, SQL, Python and analytical tools, while helping teams understand what the data reveals about our products and services. It is not primarily a dashboard-production or traditional BI role.
Do I need experience with IoT or connected devices?
No. Experience in these areas is welcome but not essential. We will help you learn about our products and systems. Your curiosity, analytical experience and willingness to learn matter more
Will I work with stakeholders outside my immediate team?
Yes. You will collaborate with colleagues across Engineering, QA, Release Management, Product and Operations to access relevant information and support technical investigations.
What is the biggest challenge in this role?
Connecting fragmented technical data and turning it into reliable insights that help teams identify issues earlier and improve product performance.

Bottom line

If you enjoy exploring technical data, understanding how connected products behave and working with colleagues across R&D, this is an opportunity to help build a capability that makes a real difference to product reliability and customer experience.
